Rachel Finally Wounds the Mighty FOX

A Brief Glimpse of New Trends in American Media:
FOX Is Wounded.
It's finally about time.

The prime time blowhards at FOX Broadcasting have spent the past few years wallowing in an irritating ebullience -- perhaps better described as an "irritating inebriation" -- while basking in the constantly darkening lamps of the reactionary network. All the while high FOX audience ratings rolled into Murdoch's executive offices daily, very dependably, further "stoking the flames" of the Hannity/Limbaugh/O'Reilly style ideological, show biz arrogance without interruption.

A very large part of Murdoch's "business success" was his corporate ability to purchase and dominatecontributions" from the wacky billionaire right kept the thing above water until it could develop a sufficiently reactionary audience to sustain it.
MSNBC's Dr. Rachel Maddow
hundreds of domestic media outlets. FOX was nowhere close to profitable during its earliest years, but huge amounts of out right "

By five years ago FOX "news stars" were the voices of hundred of hours of broadcast time every week. Limbaugh's hateful daily show was being broadcast and re-broadcast in some localities in the morning, early afternoon and evening. This saturation was made possible by the almost unlimited corporate war chest. Predictably, when the same rancid broadcast was all that was available in such markets, the audience ratings sky rocketed -- and stayed there.

For years it seemed that no power on Earth could "break the spell" of the FOX-billionaire juggernaut.

Then, THIS happened.

MSNBC beats Fox News and CNN

in ratings for the first time
[Excerpted. Read the entire article here:

MSNBC averaged about 611,000; CNN drew 589,000 and Fox News trailed with 497,000 — as Fox historically draws much older viewers who are considered less desirable to Madison Avenue executives.

The industry is rife with theories as to why this is happening now.

Some believe that Fox News and President Trump friendly surrogates like Hannity are doing a poor job covering the near daily scandals erupting around the Trump White House.

Others believe the discord and scandal that has rocked Fox News’ primetime lineup, especially the loss of Bill O’Reilly, who went down in a sexual harassment scandal, has severely weakened the once dominant channel.

Although this article was posted in the NY Daily News entertainment section, the impact of this development will probably enjoy a prominent place in the History of the United States through the 21st Century. FOX had been doing everything possible to undercut the American democracy, and FOX broadcast content had been entirely directed at "grooming" an electoral demographic into a state which, ultimately, began to deliver quite un-American election results.

We see Murdoch's "empire of deceit and persuasion" faltering -- big time -- with the news that Maddow and MSNBC have now topped FOX's ratings. MeanMesa is not at all convinced that the FOX front line actors precipitated this with their misogyny scandals. The audience currently driving the network ratings may have simply outgrown Murdoch's incendiary adolescence. A year ago Trump was FOX's most exciting, future "business asset." However, as viewers have had a chance to take a closer look at Trump, maybe they've also taken a closer look at FOX.

More than a few of them are currently manifesting the red faced embarrassment which accompanies buyer's remorse.

Breaking the FOX Spell
Gee whiz. This certainly seems to be moving quickly!
Who'd have thought -- after all these years?

How to frighten FOX viewers. [image]
There has been a major demographic of "default media consumers" which has been powering Murdoch's hate filled FOX News forward for the last few decades. By "default" MeanMesa is referring to the comatose, geriatric audience which found their automatic outrage to the network's endless incendiaries somehow gratifying enough to "slip" into the opinion that the drivel was, in fact, worth something.

Throughout these tedious decades Murdoch's propaganda machine brazenly promoted the election of every candidate with an "R" behind his name. The "other residents" of the American air waves languished under what appeared to be an unstoppable wave of top ratings for FOX.

MSNBC, originally "created" to compete with the Murdoch's rancid broadcast giant, was immediately beset with "growing pains." These got worse instead of better as things progressed -- until radio talk show host, Rachel Maddow [Yes, that would be DR. Rachel Maddow. She holds a PhD in political science from Oxford University.] came on board.

MSNBC has had more "growing pains" since then, but Maddow has set the theme for the network's progressive reporting.

Meetings of the "PhD Club" at FOX doesn't require many chairs.

The Minority Report?

Keeping an Ear on Rove's "Mouth Junk" Circus

MeanMesa, during those breathless moments between Short Current Essay's quiet and overly tolerant treatment of unfolding events, takes a break with a free solitaire site.  After a few games -- won or lost -- energy is restored, the mind is, once again, calm, and MeanMesa is "tanned, rested and ready" for a few more posts.

Of course, all sorts of ads appear on the pop-ups there on the solitaire page, battery powered soup mixers, amazing weight loss inventions and the like.  However, the latest offering caught our eye.  It is a little something from Karl Rove's CrossRoads GPS.  Normally this little smudge would have been notably forgettable, but the "talking points" were so shockingly identical to the "mouth junk" of the House tea bags during their now famous "interviews" it caught MeanMesa's attention.

So, here it is.

1. "High Unemployment"
2. "No More BLANK CHECKS"
3. "Failed $830 Billion Stimulus"
4. "Tax Increases"

The background graphics of the little jewel, although also quite easily overlooked, are also interesting.  From them, perhaps, we can approximate a few of Carl's other ambitious points.

At the top, we see a crane unloading containers at a harbor.  In the mid-section, we see the national emblem of the PRC (China) painted on one of the containers.  At the base, we see a photo shopped black and white crowd, standing in line.

The only thing missing is a nice shot of a kitty being splayed by a sledge hammer.

Blinking Gimmic on MeanMesa's Favorite Solitaire Page
Also, we have to note the graphic presentation strategy of using a nice, highly casual, cartoon comic font for everything except the compressed Helvetica of the "BLANK CHECKS" line.  Karl knows that, when appealing to hill billies and bigots, a nicely measured folksy nihilism should be communicated by one's font selection.

How homey.

Of course, removing the "fenders" from the CrossRoads GPS pitch is simple enough.  Each "point" of the talking points' "points" is, actually, entirely contradictory to the facts -- and not just contradictory to some difficult to unearth facts which might require some serious research, but contradictory to very public facts which can only be successfully avoided by tuning in exclusively to FOX NEWS and absolutely nothing else, ever.  Not even for a few seconds.

What's the Point?

The point is that there are millions of Americans who can look at this little stinker and simply nod their heads in agreement.

"Yup.  Thet therez perzactly raht."

So, where do these FOXites land in the next election?  Is there any possible point to arguing with them?  Are they out there somewhere waiting to be persuaded?

Normally, MeanMesa would say "Don't bother."

However, this time around, millions of these normally out-of-reach voters will still be reeling from what's gone on in the last two weeks.  Millions of them will have been wringing their hands for hours before a sleepless night wondering if they were going to get their Social Security checks.

And, it doesn't stop there, either.

Millions more of them have been wringing their hands about just what can be done with Mom if she doesn't get her Social Security check.  Millions more of them have been wringing their hands about what can be done if Medicaid quits paying for Mom to stay in the extended care home.

Although Americans have a world renown reputation for short memories, this hand wringing business may actually be something of an exception.  In fact, the memories of these long, hand wringing nights are, most likely, plenty strong enough to last the 15 months until the 2012 election.

FOX News has done every thing possible, sparing no expense, to stupify these members of the Republican base in hopes of permanently inoculating them from ever being open to any other political ideas, but in this case the Republicans themselves have cracked their own, hyper expensive, barricade.

There is "over reaching" and then there is this kind of "over reaching."

When all these "hand wringing types" are added to another interesting bloc in the Republican base, the election results get even more dicey.

Wait.  "Another interesting bloc?"

Yes, these would be the base Republicans who can remember that Boehner, only a few months ago, was saying that "creating jobs" was the reason that the American people sent the whole freak show to Washington in the 2010 election.  Perhaps this same bunch was also able to hear -- of all places, on FOX News -- Boehner now saying that the reason the freak show was sent to Washington was to "cut spending."

If you are a Republican base type "wringing your hands" about Social Security and Medicaid, you probably have a son who has been "wringing his hands" about jobs -- especially if he needs one.  Suddenly, another few million Republican base voters have been added to the "inadequately inoculated list."

When Presidential elections have a habit of being decided (when the votes are actually counted...) on a few hundred thousand or a million vote margins, this population of staggering, confused and dis-satisfied Republican base voters could be rather important.  Worse, for the Republicans, this "hand wringing" business may prove to be a strong enough influence to motivate these confused GOPCons to stagger from their mobile homes down to the polls.

Where they might vote for a Democrat -- you know, just to "send a message."  You know, just like they "sent a message" in 2010.

Oooops.

And, since we're gathering all the "low hanging fruit" for our 2012 GOPCon "fruit cake," we still have to add one last, normally never even considered, complicating clutch of dis-satisfied GOPCons to the mix.

The oligarchs.

These poor folks will have channelled literally millions of their "yacht and jewelry dollars" into the Citizens United media blitz to throw the 2012, not to mention all the day to day millions they have soaked into FOX News and the rest of the corporate media.

These billionaires will suddenly turn on Murdoch and the other fascist "service providers" when their very expensive prize is not delivered, very dramatically  assuming the sack cloth mantle of victimhood, you know, as in having been "deceived" by the radio crowd who promised them spectacularly better results for their investment in attacking democracy.

See?  Everybody wins.

House Tea Bags After the Fall of FOX

Just an Interesting Question

As we watch the House Republicans careen into an uncertain future, we can imagine that, perhaps, they think that the track under their out of control locomotive actually goes somewhere.  Whatever that dark destination may be, the ties which hold that track are incontrovertibly tied to the now staggering FOX News Leviathan.

The Glorious FOX Route To Congressional Fame (image source )

Previously a stalwart, bed rock foundation for the Republican reactionaries, we now see FOX gleefully dodging the soft bullets of the British Parliament, perhaps a temporary respite before further onslaughts by US authorities and the "nice folks" in its Board of Directors.  Let's just say that FOX is occupied right now, too busy to produce its normal glacial cover for the crooks and other miscreants it managed to elect in 2010.

MeanMesa remains confident that the FOX instructions, orders and talking points still flow in a daily stream to their indentured politicians in the Congress, but when such a petulant, adolescent fascist suddenly realizes that what used to be "Nazi-like efficiency" has cascaded into a divided house, priorities can slip and confusion can set in where there was once mind-numbing order.

This dismal forecast holds just as much for the tea bag in the House as it does for the now wandering bigots, hill billies and other "FOX heads" who used to listen to the rubbish for hours on end.

Without the unifying flow of hate and lies, all these education challenged folk have now become "lost souls."  Using one of their own talking points, the situation can be described as a desperate "crisis in leadership."

Darn.  This always seems to happen when the "leadership" is having their feet cut off at the ankles.

FOX stock is crumbling.  Crowds are cheering.  Murdoch is lying even faster than ever before as he panics, throwing his "colleagues" into the meat grinder, two at a time.

GOPCon House Caucus "Strategy Session" Without FOX ( image source)

A Not So Bright Future for Tea Bags

The moment everyone has been dreading as this whole "crisis in the pig sty" has been unfolding is that last, glorious belch from Murdoch himself.

"Unleash the hill billies!"

Unhappily for the now global "bait and switch" fraud which has been the "Murdoch Media Empire," the hill billies will almost immediately revert to the aimless wandering which characterized them before the FOX sham began.  Bearing their banjos and luke warm cans of Blue Ribbon, they will, once again, congregate in unruly burping clutches at the nearest American Legion bar.

The ultimate effect could reach far beyond the FOX Reich bunker and the stock market, beyond the train wreck at Downing Street and beyond the puzzled, pan handling faces of unemployed "talk whores" such as Limbaugh and Hannity.

The tea bags in the House, previously quite comfortable and secure with Dick Armey's 1,300 strong tea bag movement standing squarely behind them, will find themselves without a constituency.  Coming to its senses, the US electorate will gradually begin to ask themselves "What were we doing, again?  Was there some reason we elected these throw backs in the first place?"

Worse, in the smoky back rooms of the Congress, previously unrepentant tea bag savages who used to march only to the sound of fiscal blood, will find themselves desperately seeking the advice of the old Wall Street banksters who comprise the traditional "looting branch" of the Republican Party.

The tea bags will begin to wear $1,000 dollar suits with red "power ties,"  start to avoid meet and greets at Erma Lou's Grits and Pork Chop Diner and adopt the dour, threatening "frown smiles" we are accustomed to seeing only on the old crooks like Hatch, McConnell and other old school Republican fascists.

It might be a dark day for FOX, but it will herald a promising new sunrise for America.

MeanMesa Headlines - The Murdoch Moment, July 15 Update

Now, MeanMesa hopes that our great blog visitors know better than to think that we might somehow be able to place a spy camera in the executive conference room of Mr. Murdoch's News Corp empire.  Consequently, in the absence of any great "hacked shots" of the Murdoch executives responding to the growing wall of public relations poop, MeanMesa will have to try to "make do" with a few random photos from Google Images.

Naturally, the precise scenes of Herr Duke Rupert canning everyone who might even possibly bring the scandal within reach of the Duke himself would be priceless items, sought after -- at any price -- by all the detractors the Duke has gang raped in his heavily soiled media career.  Let's begin with our imaginary shot of News Corps executives rallying to the cause as the Duke bemoans the callous brutality and indignities the out of control "little people" have so unfairly foisted upon him.

News Corp Executive Committee Plans Corporate Strategy (image source)

In practically no time, the news emerged from the News Corp Reich Bunker that the giant News Corp British holding, The News of the World, was to be immediately vaporized by a Murdoch V2 missile fired from the Duke's castle in New York.  Further, the News Corp executive committee  dispatched another Murdoch servant, Les Hinton, who had previously occupied the top position at News Corp's Dow Jones, by accepting his "resignation."

Murdoch's DOW JONES CEO has to go (image source)

Murdoch himself, it is reported, had to receive a sedative and psychiatric care in order to finally get him to quit yelling "You don't know who you're up against, you little toad!" over and over to anyone he encountered on the street or in his  luxurious private office at the News Corp Reich bunker.  The Duke was resting quietly when news arrived of the "resignation" of the CEO of his empire's British news corporation, Rebekah Brooks.

Rebekah Brooks or Olivia de Havilland? in Snake Pit ca. 1948 (image source)
Duke Rupert's sex fantasies concerning strong willed, red headed women apparently dissolved in his mounting fear of becoming a "no body."  Worse, cruel text messages from anonymous sources continued to remind the Duke that prisons were chuck full of "wrong colored people," aggravating the Duke's growing terror even further.

Also troubling, the Duke's son and heir apparent, James Murdoch, Earl of FOX, has joined the Duke on the "next train out of town."  The titled lad, still learning the "ins and outs" of the family fascism, remains pouty after being omitted from the UK Parliament's Inquisition Invitation list.

James, Earl of FOX, has been suspiciously silent, only whimpering a "catch line" taken from Murdoch servant Eric Cantor over and over when approached by non-FOX reporters.  "I AM important!  I AM important!"

Finally, the now thoroughly terrified, tangled mob of Murdoch "talking point" pundits has officially mangled the Duke's direct order to divert public attention away from the scandal by prohibiting any mention of it on the News Corp's broadcasts.  The bold omission has become a story of it's own on non-News Corp stations.

Even the, uh, "Republican negotiators" in the artificial, yet carefully crafted Murdoch "Debt Limit Crisis" have faltered in the absence of their morning "talking point" phone calls from their Duke.

Stay tuned.  MeanMesa intends to follow this "breaking news" story right down the rat hole.  Oooops.  Rat hole?  Snake pit?

Don't forget your "fair and balanced" shovels.

A MeanMesa "Quickie" - Gosh! Where Do We Hear This Stuff?

For any MeanMesa visitor who is still wondering just how Rupert Murdoch (FOX Network) is able to inundate the "news" in our country, take a quick look at the following recap of the most watched "news" sources in American cable media.  Please pay attention to the average number of viewers -- these figures are noted at the bottom of each entry.

Remember, there are roughly 350,000,000 people living in our country.  There were roughly 130,000,000 votes cast in the 2008 national election.

Creepy.

Polls and Policy from TV Guide?

The neo-con effort to establish security necessities
justified by television scripts

Dreary psychopaths reinventing their integrity, their torture
and their sexual fantasies 90

A brief glimpse of the scandal as seen by MeanMesa:

As more and more details emerge from the now “out of control” scandal of the Bushite Autocracy’s torture habits, we have to wonder: “How could they (we) have been drawn into this disgusting mess?” Of course, they somehow have found the last, allegedly justifying shards of their subhuman, caustic vitriol to trot out as their last frantic vestiges of their claims to humanhood slowly disintegrate. Of course, they make desperate, whiny cries that all their midnight pornography torture episodes were effective -- and in their (our) twisted issue of odorous dishonor -- hence, justified.

It’s time to “kiss the girlfriend!”

Pundits across the air waves, both reactionaries and progressives, have tried to salve the horrifying national embarrassment with an endless addition of more and more “discussion,” always convincingly presented as if the speaker were privy to actual observation of the practices or enjoyed some other kind of credible authority about them. As with so many other matters, none of us is -- any longer -- particularly surprised to find that massive campaigns of lies and misdirection from the Bush regime have left us stunned and remorseful, again. All those who hold up the honor of our country hide our faces and ponder -- “Will there ever be an end to this disgrace?”

The psychopathies of the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeldt-Gonzales “horror family” seem to emerge into the light with the sickening regularity of an episodic series of television shows, each one more hideously depressing and outrageous than the one before.

One hundred eighty terrifying, water board driven sensations of death by drowning to “uncover” the same information available on Khalid Shaik Mohammed's previously broadcast Al Jezeera television interview?

The details of these gruesome, sexual gratification fantasies and other facts are still developing, but there is an aside which may be “ripe” enough for MeanMesa’s attention today. What could have inspired this terrible indulgence on the part of someone like Dick Cheney? Although an interesting question, we now face the unnerving material task of trying to rectify the consequences of the matter. Still, we remain curious. What was the motive for all these acts? What was the source that provided the insane motives for these subhuman escapades carried out in our name?

The answers are worse than the questions. Raw vengeance can carry the day only so far. Can we discern the reasons? After all, what else would satisfy the appetite for power and ascendance amid the otherwise humiliating, self crushing boredom of being overweight, effeminate cowards armed -- thanks to us -- with the world’s most powerful army?

Now to the point of this post:

Let’s talk television. (We can painlessly include movies and novels, too. In this case, the medium is NOT the message.) A sinister cycle of carefully grooming the public, both here and abroad, with deceptions disguised as news by the likes of the Foxes and Murdoch’s is no longer a “shocking revelation” to anyone any longer. But what about the fiction? Are the equally carefully crafted themes of fictional plots designed to slowly reconfigure the glacial consciousness of the viewing masses?

For example, the codependent narcotic of CSI reassures us that police investigations can reveal the “truth” necessary to catch any criminal, no matter how ingenious or cautious he might be. We ignore the fact that prosecutors from all across the country now complain that jurors expect this fictional expertise before they convict defendants. Perhaps they simply don’t realize that the popular CSI equipment is more akin to Star Trek technology than fact.

In any event, the message is clear. “Eluding the power of the state is hopeless.” Does it have to do with deterring crime or establishing submission? "Resistance is futile!" (... the BORG...)

Fox’s Jack Bauer -- 24 Hours -- establishes the fictional foundation for the now famously cited H-bomb, anthrax, death ray, insane terrorist in Los Angeles, New York or Atlanta which justifies the necessity of ripping someone’s arms and legs off in order to “foil the plot.” We wonder if Sean Hannity has found a way to watch these films twenty-four hours every day.

The question is, “Did shows like 24 Hours successfully embed this crazy idea into the minds of the electorate? Or even, part of the electorate?”

El Cartel, broadcast here in Albuquerque on the Spanish language Telemundo Network, presents the vindicating tale of government efforts to quash drug cartels. Are these (rather entertaining) tales a move to prepare citizens of Mexico and the Untied States with a fictional model which persuades them that such programs are worth the sacrifice of enduring the inevitable violence they will precipitate? They may be effective. El Cartel may even produce a positive image and acceptance of the value of the policy. But wait, is this the rational approach to prepare a populous to take the right action?

Isn’t it a bit cynical to assume that the citizens of any country can only be convinced that the right course of action is the dramatically simplified motive presented in a fictional construction? What about the mature, educated citizen who is naturally inclined toward governments and policies which reflect his individual interests in doing the sensible, reasonable things necessary to sustain an orderly civilization consistent with his own values -- that is, values which haven’t been predigested, simplified and presented as caricatures of solutions to the real challenges he and his country might face?

It’s easier for the lazy mind to simply be frightened into agreement with the radical actions taken by a desperate, yet imminently -- and artificially -- honorable television star. This seems to be the case whether a government wishes to vindicate torture or campaigns to defeat drug lords.

Good old Jack Bauer has made legitimate all these responses as unexamined, gaseous justifications for non existential, hypothetical terror threats. Once that was accomplished, the justifications went directly to the neo-con wing nuts in the government even as the hypothetical terrors were left behind on last week’s show.

Good old Jack Bauer laid the groundwork. And from that insane foundation, after Fox “innocently” participated in its introduction, propagation and justification, there emerged all sorts of even more bizarre and grotesque further refinements. For example, Cheney’s torture program, since it apparently never produced much in the way of information, can be assigned to the ambition of terrifying the terrorists, perhaps extracting some sort of vengeance. Vengeance? Useful for national security? In the world of Cheney and Rove, any kind of outrage represented the possible utility of its use for political expediencies. That isn’t news to anyone currently still breathing.

Heh, heh, heh. Tune into channel 69. We are now listening to this same, hopefully rather nervous, idiot (Cheney) insisting that our torture techniques are national security secrets. How do we intend to frighten terrorists with his exquisite torture accomplishments if they remain secret? In his next breath, the old crook insists that the Justice Department has intentionally refused to release the documents supporting “all the lives saved” by this violent extraction of terrorist “information.” Naturally, something like that might assist in his defense in court, in his mind, even if it had to be quickly fabricated at the last minute (maybe in a way similar to the official lies he spread like sunflower seeds to start the war in Iraq...).

We must disabuse ourselves of the trash these television scripts have insinuated into our thoughts. The first step will be to finally reveal that they are no more than cheesy manipulations of our fears, vomited out to make us more accepting of the horrors of our actions and more accepting of the necessities of abandoning our ideals and our Constitutional protections.

If the neo-con monsters who so craftily deceived us before can reinvent themselves into something even remotely coherent, we will have been destroyed by our own televisions! Thanks to them, we now find ourselves not resisting external forces intent on our destruction, but instead, sorting uncomfortably through our own thoughts to detect and eliminate the toxin which has been placed there.

Yes, the Bushites created immense poison all around the world, but our first mission will be to cleanse what their incredible network co-conspirators have placed in our own minds.

Not familiar with the al Jazeera network? It is part of our world and definitely worth knowing about!

Any appetite for Chris Matthews? Here he speaks about Cheney's torture justification:

Have we been neglecting our appropriate attention to 24 Hours or El Cartel?
http://www.fox.com/24/
http://foro.univision.com/univision/board/message?board.id=telenovelas&message.id=1135221

Finally, for those with an "appetite" to see a "fictional" representation of an extremely troubling traditional example, may I recommend a movie. The important feature of this movie has no particular relevance to torture scenes or techniques, but rather to the outrage of the attitudes of those in charge.

CAUTION: This film is EXTREMELY PROVOCATIVE. DO NOT FOLLOW THIS LINK UNLESS YOU ACCEPT AND UNDERSTAND THIS WARNING!

Obama’s Recovery: Partners or Predators?

Is the President playing “Go Fish” or Chess?

Teaching neo-cons that there can more on the table besides a “carrot or a stick.” 86

Americans listened, considered and agreed with the propositions for national recovery presented in the Obama campaign. If there were any confusion, we may now conclude it arose from the painstaking media grooming of its implied image of the depth and severity of the economic looting done under the cover of the Bush autocracy. Over the decades of “conservative” administrations such as Reagan or the senior Bush, we have grown passively accepting of a routine corruption which had been presented as an "acceptable" and entirely "American," neo-con "leadership" principle.

It has gone even further than that.

We have accepted these gradually growing insults piece meal (Remember the frog who jumps from the boiling water, but remains, comfortably, in the slowly warming, tepid pan?” Yum. Boiled frog.) Americans have slowly and patiently been convinced that a great number of reactionary, neo-con principles are American values or, even, make sense.. For example, in the past couple of weeks from this writing, an “American flag” ship was “piratized” off the coast of Somalia. Its legitimate and honorable “mission” there was the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian supplies to our national friends in Kenya.

But wait.

The reason that ship was flying an American flag -- it had been temporarily renamed after the State of Alabama -- was thanks to a UN ruling. For some reason, the goods of our well intentioned altruism had to be purchased in the US at a price eight times higher than the same commodities could be purchased in the region. For some reason, those commodities had to be transported in an “American flag” ship which plied the waters of the Middle East at eight times the cost of a local alternative.

For some reason? For what reason? The neo-cons have successfully imposed their idea that any good act should begin with a good profit.

The same things happen everywhere. The Indians were persuaded to quit producing generic AIDS drugs, making the Bush Altruism Initiative of aiding African states with that disease one which purchased only “full priced,” first line, American made pharmaceuticals for the effort. Coupled with the irrational neo-con -- and now, Papal -- condemnation of prophylactic supply, promotion and use, the pharmaceutical model of “altruistic” profitability was realized, lubricated and firmly saddled astride vacuous, failed premises of abstinence and other convenient, recent appliances of the prevailing mythology.

These points are presented as example of our amazing, well developed idea that men cannot do good for any reason if it excludes profit. The possibility of assistance, altruism or even cooperation must always be offered in conjunction with an appealing, “oh, by the way,” kind of suddenly and innocently discovered profit.

With this brief account of fundamental neo-con psychology, let us move on the matter of the stimulus and its unwilling participants -- partners and predators.

Why are these participants unwilling and why are these participants, well, even participants in the first place?

First, who are they? The list can easily be extracted from the tedious, frustrating denizens of the current news cycle. There were bankers who got money to make loans and then didn’t make loans. There were health care HMO’s who received an invitation to change their ways, then didn’t change their ways. There were car company executives who were told to rationally reorganize themselves who then proposed “changes” which guaranteed the continuation of their same ruthlessly destructive past policies. There were pharmaceutical companies who were told to release their legislatively protected extortion-strangle-hold on the medical franchise. There were Wall Street “hedge hogs,” oil speculators and investment bankers who were told that they had to “take a hit” on their inflated, imaginary profit and loss statements, who, instead, scrambled around to move their imaginary “profits” off shore so they could pay all of their attention to the looting of the stimulus money (“stay the course,” “cut the taxes,” “make me whole,” et cetera).

All of them were train wreck remnants of the “If anything good is going to happen, it is going to happen to me!” greed ideology of the past. Their obsession of the moment is an arrogant example of their hubris, that is, their absolute rejection of the new “change” and “cooperate” theme of the Obama administration -- and the electorate which created it. Naturally, the first step for these brain dead felons was to purchase some Senators, which they did. By the way, some of our Senators are simply too frightened or honorable to enlist in this outrage. It seems that the real bargains in the Senate are the bourbon drenched neo-con bigots -- hillbillies with an ill advised continuing allegiance to the previous regime of Bush protected avarice.

All these folks seriously believe that what is happening to us right now is nothing more than a current model of what has happened to us in the past. Although this may be more exciting than usual to these “geniuses of capitalism” who are managing the pharmaceutical, banking, health care and other no bid contracting interests, they remain convinced that Obama’s efforts to rescue our economy present nothing new, that is, simply more of the same opportunities which have served their historical extraction practices in the past. They expect and intend to emerge from this “difficulty of the masses” with even fatter pockets and the “ownership deeds” to even more Senators.

Did we ever imagine what feelings a vampire might experience after he sucked the blood from the last living human? In this case, he would convince himself that his last victim was actually not the last living human and fly off gleefully in search of his next prey.

Obama’s proffered gambit was simple enough. “Stop exploiting our economy. It cannot survive any more of your pretend version of free marketism. All of you parasites have done unacceptably well for yourselves at the expense of everyone else, and now, the 'everyone else' is staggering along, near death, as you contemplate your schemes to extract even more from the ambulance staff which has come to rescue them.”

He has asked the bankers to take his bail out money and change their ways, take a few risks for the good of the country (for them, country = their personal finances). Instead, they have been shopping to purchase each other in the hour of peril while sitting on their bulging coffers of bail out money. He has asked the health care moguls to reconfigure their extortion to include the interest of those in the electorate who might need a doctor. Instead, those same moguls have redirected all their discretionary profits to an ad campaign to wreck his Presidency.

Obama has asked the executives of GM and Chrysler to “bleed a little” and reconfigure their business plans to something remotely rational. Instead, they have collapsed to their road weary, inflammatory “swan song” of blaming the unions for everything. He has asked the Senators to, provocatively to them, think of the good of the country instead of their “astonishingly beneficent campaign contributions.” Instead, they -- along with their neo-con progeny in the House -- have marched lockstep in a dismal phalanx of denial and greed all the while hoping in their wet dreams for Obama's failure and destruction.

Does all this describe a foolish failure of a pollyanna in the White House? Has the new President continued to “walk into the props” of a superior neo-con meat grinder whose sole claim to fame is more experience at cynicism?

Maybe not.

Who is ready to characterize Obama’s rather formidable capacity for effective political strategy based on such a short sighted view of his leadership path as it has emerged thus far? If you have this inclination, perhaps you should consider lowering your voice for a few months. If you think his embarrassing rejection at the hands of the so-called House Republicans signifies evidence of a lethal miscalculation in his political tactics, perhaps you should wait for the next act in this play.

Still, it seems that every ambitiously honorable attempt by this White House has ended poorly, that is, all the entreaties “across the aisle” have resulted in another of his restorative plans being dragged behind the truck of guffawing and boisterously emboldened, medievalist Republicans and other corporate schemers. The “Fox Conclusion?” The President is, aside from being a socialist, fascist, traitor, Muslim, gun controlling, international relations appeasing, abortion financing, gay black man, a ninny. The Foxites believe that they have prevailed. The tea baggers think that their frenzied message, whatever it was, is compelling, that is, has gained traction. The bankers think that they will be vindicated in the future, elevated by their tenacious grip on their publicly financed “McDuck Money Bins” and their complete refusal to participate in the resurrection of the economy or the country, now in a mortal, death grip peril. The AIG boys assume that tax payers won’t remember paying the cash for the outrage of their bonuses.

On the other hand, we can create this model in another frame entirely.

Obama entered his position of power with ambitions to reconfigure the economy (and a long list of other things, too) in a way that would redirect some of America’s prosperity back to those who have patiently provided the resources which support it. He knew, even before his inauguration, that those who had developed a criminal “nutrition” requirement of vast tax money in their pockets would react violently to retain their previous parasitic advantages.

They have. Just listen to them. Today, their lies could be baled like hay at harvest time.

Perhaps President Obama, not really stranded and bewildered on a side track after the neo-cons so arrogantly humiliated his efforts at reconciliation, is actually right on target. These practiced criminals have invested very heavily in their program of promoting themselves as honest “partners” in the rescue effort while disguising their more factual qualities as looters and criminals, that is, “predators,” hiding in wait to loot the life blood from the stimulus money.

Money we have paid and allocated to trying to restore the damage of their past looting.

Obama could have swung the massive hammer of electoral outrage in the first few minutes of his administration in a sweeping correction -- think of it as chasing the money lenders from the temple if that analogy is not too messianic. However, if he had taken this approach, the validity of his plan would have been supported only be his claims of its necessity. In the minds of Americans there would have remained the question: “Are these wounded victims of his really this criminal? Do they really place the prosperity and safety of our country in such a low position of importance compared to their continued wealth extraction?”

No. Obama has let these “bottom feeders,” perhaps emboldened by the likes of Carl Rove, Joe the Plumber, Sara Palin, AIG, Wall Street, Newt Gringrich and other “tea-bagger-wanna-be’s” -- well, you are familiar enough with the pathetic denizens of this long list, emerge into the light. He has allowed them to “show their true colors,” their traitorous lack of commitment to the national survival driven by a narcotic, decades long habit of successful greed.

If we were describing a “trial” of this past behavior of his now screaming critics, what we have seen so far would be the “discovery phase.” The character of these criminals had to be exposed, finally revealed to their victims, in this case the American tax paying electorate. Obama has presented the evidence we lacked before, and that evidence seems quite capable of penetrating the thrall of the controlled media’s past efforts to keep us hypnotized.

No one believes he has cock roaches until they reveal themselves in the light.

Remain calm and hopeful. All this had to happen first. The crimes had to be exposed and defined. Our national situation is, most likely, going to collapse to a truly desperate state as 2009 proceeds. We taxpayers and voters will be confronted with Obama’s compelling evidence as he ultimately makes his case for change. That will bring us to our trial’s “sentencing phase.”

To think that the foundering mess we see at this moment is a truly representative preview of that probably means that we are slowly loosing our collective hope. If any of us has decided to take that path, take it without me.

MeanMesa visitors who are not well acquainted with the economic recovery plan can find a wide variety of information available in the Google entry for this topic. As Americans we are spending an immense amount of our tax money in this effort to resuscitate our "critically ill" country now that the Bush parasites have been sent back to Texas. Its our money, our President and our future. Who could remain uninterested at a time like this?

What will replace the “media?”

A study in over reaction? Sure, unless you like be lied to. 75

All kinds of things are showing up in the light of day. Stinky old secrets that were paying good wages only a few months ago seem to be shamelessly, well, exposing themselves in public places. These media giants, once the envy of the world, have become trailer trash so obnoxious that not even their truth masters can get the lip stick back on them.

Staggering about with vague credentialism from the the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the “Big Five” media corporations have, probably, terminally “soiled” themselves. The news manipulation so brazenly crafted by these opportunistic corporations is now growing more damagingly obvious every day. The dark creatures who had guided and protected these deceit peddlers have, judiciously, withdrawn from the new light. Like comatose patients awaking after a long sleep, even the most credulous viewers are growing suspicious of a massive public deception. Suspicious, and a little embarrassed.

By “credulous” we mean “automatic.” Automatic viewers are those who spend no time with alternate sources of news and are unaware of the tide of voices warning the public about what’s gone on. For years these stalwart media fans could be counted on to fill the roster of the millions of users these media conglomerates exploited so profitably. Regardless of the clear disconnection between even the reporting offered to viewers on one day and contradictory reporting on the same story a few days later, these automatic viewers had been artfully coaxed into, well, habits.

That habit was to park the car, pour a drink and relax with the news, then discuss it as if it were fact the next day at the water cooler. The factual nature of what had been reported as fact was reinforced by others in the conversation who had seen an almost remarkably similar story on another network. In the absence of any reporting done outside the editorial control of these media monsters, things meshed. Stories supported each other. There might have been an occasional debate about what appeared to be the substance of these stories, but never a debate about the credibility of them.

After all, every newsworthy network always agreed on all the newsworthy facts.

Precisely what media monsters do we mean?

Easy. CNN (AOL Time Warner), NBC (General Electric), Fox (News Corp.), CBS (Viacom) and ABC (Walt Disney). Of course there are many more, but these are the specific corporations presently enjoying the great masses of viewers, followers, acceptors, addicts, subjects, you know, believers. This handful of companies represents only the mountain tops. For example, CBS owns 37 television broadcasters, 47 radio broadcasters and more than 20 publishing houses. Between all of these organizations we see a dismal presence in every major media market in the country.

Major media market? Of course. That’s where they were convinced the treasure rested.

The treasure? Narcotized addicts, lockstep volunteers for their toxic hypnosis. Why, the zombies could vote, send their sons to any war made necessary, and, most important, elect without question.

So what’s the crime? Think about it. Some years ago we received First Amendment reporting that Sadam Hussein had poison gas, bacteriological weapons and delivery systems. Think about it. You received that reporting, didn’t you? Try to remember.

It was, of course, false. We could care about its source, but for right now, let’s consider whether or not broadcasting known falsehoods is consistent with First Amendment protected Freedom of Speech. By the way, that broadcast propagates itself through airwaves owned by the recipients of the lies.

That would be us. We’ve been gang raped.

Keep thinking. Was there a retraction? Was there a correction? Was there more later? Any in depth reporting as to the exact story of how this got broadcast to us? Who benefitted? Why it was done? Keep thinking. Try to remember.

What about 911? Keep thinking. Who knows if there was a conspiracy -- probably no one in my acquaintance knows. Who is interested in whether or not there was a conspiracy? Just about everyone I know. Try to remember. What news organization spent so much as a second on this story after its fabrication had delivered the public opinion to start the war? Was there a retraction? A clarification? An explanation? Were there any questions asked and answered? Try to remember. Did we get our First Amendment Free Speech’s money worth from the free press broadcasting over our air waves? Try to remember.

Was there some innocent reason we’ve never seen coffins returning from Iraq? Was it just an oversight? Perhaps, never -- never once -- newsworthy? Try to remember. Try to understand. Never newsworthy?

Is it a coincidence that every neo-con knuckle dragger on Fox came up with the identical talking points day after day? Maybe it was simply a sign of very thoughtful selection of newsworthy topics. Maybe some blogger left his group address enabled. Try to understand.

Was Reverend Wright so newsworthy that his ranting somehow deserved millions or billions of dollars worth of free press news treatment? Did so many Americans worry whether or not Obama was a Muslim that the question had to be resurrected day after day? Did a same or similar calamity befall all the candidates equally? Try to remember. Was there a retraction? A correction? An explanation? Think about it.

Let’s pause for a moment. All these companies has every right to maintain and promote an editorial policy and make editorial comments, all well protected by the free press clause in the First Amendment. Because they are profiting from their control of our air waves, it might not be out of line for us to require them to identify these editorial comments of theirs in a way which would prevent them from being promoted as news or fact. That would be something like “public interest.”

Further, can we countenance outright incompetence in this news reporting process? Sure. Everyone can make a mistake. But what else might we expect? A correction? Try to remember. Were there corrections? Even more important, would corrections have had anything to do with “public interest?” Does accuracy have any place in the First Amendment’s protection of a free press? Even when the lie is covered with American blood and treasure? You know, accuracy? Fact?

The worst transgression of all, and exactly the one which should push all these parasites out of business and into the dustbin of neo-con failures is the 5% lie, the innuendo, the uncorrected minor mistake. Now we will see that what these giants have been reporting to us, every word and utterance of it, has been carefully toxified by their ownership to produce just the “automatic” reception they wanted. The reception they needed. To keep their vampire scheme well oiled.

This contamination is not manifest in flaming, outrageous lies. It is carefully presented with omissions. Ever hear a story about why Al Quaeda wanted to hurt us? Wait. The “they hate our freedom” thing is no more than odorous rubbish. Not newsworthy? Doesn’t exist? Try to remember.

How about stories explaining why the Palestinians are attacking Israel? Try to remember. Are they just crazy or is there actually some kind of reason? We wouldn’t know. Why would anyone want that one sided war to happen? Is it First Amendment Free Speech? Is it “fair and balanced?” Is the reporting we get complete? Try to remember. Maybe there just isn’t any reason that’s newsworthy? Try to remember. Take a moment. Do you really understand anything about what’s happening in Gaza? Does anything in the story we got make sense?

This posting gives examples which are present in our immediate thoughts. There are thousands more. Just when our democracy was in the most threatened moment in its history, our view went blank. The pablum oozing from our television screens was an insidious, yeah, you got it, conspiracy. Everything we received from our First Amendment Free Press, everything being broadcast over the public airwaves in the “public interest,” had been tilted just enough.

Now they've already started in on our new President.

As an informed public, we have no idea what is going on. Somebody thought that was a good preparation for selling us all sorts of stupid, destructive half truth. They delivered their media torpedo of deception and lies. We bought it. When the main players began the looting, the manipulation, the fear mongering and the lies, they assumed that we were entirely prepared to do our part.

Our part? To believe.

Pissed? Try to remember. They are counting on you to not be able to remember. They tell you that your memory fades in a few days. In fact, they tell you that over and over -- sort of like “they hate our freedom” and “cut and run” and “appeasers” and “stay the course.”

God. What were we thinking?

Anyone else in favor of dumping this “free press” of ours before it destroys us? Oh my. What could replace it?

How about a free press?

An educated electorate needs to know what’s happening in the world. You know. What’s really happening. Both sides. Bad news. Questions. Answers.

Yeah, that stuff.

In Praise of FOX News: America’s Entertainment

What could be more satisfying than searching for the good in everything?
It not only cleanses the soul, it is also a great boon to good health. 43

So, here goes.

FOX News has very nice and well maintained cameras and other equipment.

That wasn’t so bad now, was it?
