MeanMesa subscribes to a FaceBook info site named UCubed which is a very interesting "friend" providing social media news coverage. The following UCubed post is from December 10, 2013:
Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, opened her local paper this morning to find a full-page ad from a fantasy-reform group supporting “merit pay” for teachers. Its “Thank you, Randi” ad blamed her, erroneously, for lower student test scores.
Who paid for this slash and trash?
AFTFact.com is a front group created by Washington lobbyist Rick Berman. By attacking unions, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the Humane Society of the United States and now the AFT --- all financed with millions of dollars in corporate contributions --- Berman has built a cottage industry.
Berman even started an Employment Policies Institute to oppose raising the minimum wage. It pushes the nutty idea that a higher minimum wage will drive the poor and uneducated out of the job market. And Berman’s EPI is funded by “restaurants, retailers and manufacturers,” according to the Nation’s Restaurant News.
Rick Berman’s crocodile tears flow faster when corporate cash pays for his slash and trash. So, attacking Randi Weingarten is nothing more than a get-rich-quick scheme for this lobbyist.
To the CEO and CFO’s who signed those six and seven digit checks, one question lingers. How friggin’ stupid can you be? Randi Weingarten isn’t going to back down. And all your shareholders got … was another invoice from another Berman front group.
The site name "AFTFact" Googles up with the American Federation of Teachers. At the end of this brief post was a link to Berman's AFTFact.com. [link here.] The domain name is currently offered for sale.
Here's a possible answer for the source of Berman's sponsorship:
