For MeanMesa visitors who don't spend a lot of time listening to the pundits, one well published side of the Glenn Beck Hate Rally in the Washington D.C. Mall has to do with a simple enough question: "How many folks showed up for the shindig?"
Granted, with the Palin lumbering through what seemed hours of IQ-crushing, near-English clap trap, there was every reason for a bit of confusion. In fact, before the mayonaise on the sandwich wrappers had a chance to "turn," a chorus of neo-con radio "mouths" were already promoting the idea that literally thousands and thousands -- per Sean Hannity -- "probably half a million or more" Beck-zombies were there, grinning and holding palms up to the sky where God's "Howdy y'all" manifested as nothing less than a flock of honking geese over head.
MeanMesa guesses that you sort of had to be there to get the full impact of the moment.
Meanwhile, CBS's crowd estimating experts were pouring over a satellite photo of the crowd. You know, actual, well, reality stuff.
Their number was 87,000. Ho hum. For the numerically impaired, let's look at the numbers.

However, once the hill billies got "all fired up," about the conflicting counts, off they went. The "spontaneous truth effort" was led by none other than good old Dick Armey's well financed, corporate Freedom Works. The email follows:
Freedom Works Dear MeanMesa, Did you hear the "news?" According to mainstream reports, Glenn Beck's rally attracted a whopping "couple thousand" to Washington, DC. I know what you're thinking -- "Are they crazy?!" and maybe "Haven't we been here before?" You and I both know that hundreds of thousands showed up in DC this weekend, and that even more marched on 9/12 last year. The good news is, the American people are wising up, too. They aren't buying the mainstream media's downplayed story, not when there is obvious photographic evidence discrediting them . . . and a political agenda motivating them.
