The Oligarchs REQUIRE "Obedient" Federal Courts

All sorts of their schemes could have otherwise wound up in "bad" verdicts.

This has nothing to do with justice

 -- at least, not with justice as it's been practiced recently.

Part of the clearly obvious obstructionism deployed by anti-democracy, Republican interests in the US Congress has been the Senatorial effort to absolutely block hearings and approvals of Federal Judges nominated by President Obama. This "high priority" legislative item has played out over and over, culminating in its most extreme example with the refusal by the oligarchs' servants in the Senate to even so much as have a hearing on Obama's nomination of a Supreme Court appointment to replace Antony Scalia following his death.

Of course this refusal was more than an outrageous festival of GOP Senatorial hubris. The refusal was a blatant, un-obscured rejection of the Constitutional requirements for the legal process of selecting a replacement to fill Scalia's vacancy. The Republican Senators, blindly following racist Mitch McConnell in a frightening, unanimous lockstep, simply set aside provisions in US Constitutional Law which spelled out their responsibilities. 

McConnell has repeatedly shown that his good ole' boy, GOP Kentucky constituents have no appetite for adhering to Constitutional Law. [Most recently Senator McConnell refused to allow intelligence information about Russian election hacking to be released to the public just prior to the November Presidential election. However, the point of this post focuses on the US Judicial system at a lower level -- just below the realm of the Supreme Court. 

What Trump Can Do With 100 Federal Judge Appointments

Don't expect the sold out, GOP Senate to stop him.

Trump, as an individual, will almost certainly find himself mired in numerous conflict of interest cases which will be decided by Federal Courts. Although it is possible that some of these will ascend to Supreme Court cases, his ability to sway decisions at the "lower court" level will be crucial. The prosecution of such matters will be under the Department of Justice -- which he will also control. Currently, the Trump "transition" process has selected noted racist, Senator Jeff Sessions, to be Attorney General, making it likely that many of these cases will never be prosecuted.

The greater damage will be felt from decisions in these lower courts regarding the "business practices" of the oligarchs who own the Republican Party. They are expecting a flurry of "very nice" Federal Court decisions which will "legalize" their projects which would have previously been blocked by the system. With the entire apparatus in place, especially if the reactionaries are able to place another radical Dominionist on the Supreme Court to replace the dead Dominionist, Scalia, there will be absolutely no judicial mechanism left in place to defend the US Constitution.

President Trump will have succeeded in accomplishing what his Russian ideal did. With the courts under his firm control Putin went on to become the richest man in the world -- clearly one of Donald Trump's "feverish wet dreams."

Donald Trump is set to inherit an uncommon number of vacancies in the federal courts in addition to the open Supreme Court seat, giving the president-elect a monumental opportunity to reshape the judiciary after taking office.

The estimated 103 judicial vacancies that President Obama is expected to hand over to Trump in the Jan. 20 transition of power is nearly double the 54 openings Obama found eight years ago following George W. Bush’s presidency.

Confirmation of Obama’s judicial nominees slowed to a crawl after Republicans took control of the Senate in 2015. Obama White House officials blame Senate Republicans for what they characterize as an unprecedented level of obstruction in blocking the Democratic president’s court picks.

The result is a multitude of openings throughout the federal circuit and district courts that will allow the new Republican president to quickly make a wide array of lifetime appointments.

State gun control laws, abortion restrictions, voter laws, anti-discrimination measures and immigrant issues are all matters that are increasingly heard by federal judges and will be influenced by the new composition of the courts. Trump has vowed to choose ideologues in the mold of the late Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia, a conservative icon — a prospect that has activists on the right giddy.
